今回のJESTAの創設は、2026年5月に成立した「改正入管法（かいせいにゅうかんほう）」に盛り込まれました。現在は、2028年度中の運用開始を目指して具体的な準備が進められています。
政府は、不法就労などの目的を持った人の入国を未然に防ぎ、観光客の入国手続きをよりスムーズにすることを目指しています。
これまでビザなしで気軽に日本に来られていた国の方にとっては、渡航前のステップが一つ増えることになります。「アメリカに行くときのESTAと同じようなもの」と覚えておくとイメージしやすいですね。開始時期が近づいたら、申請方法などを改めてこのブログでもシェアしたいと思います！
